Poiché quest’anno il regalo di Natale mi è arrivato un po’ in anticipo ho pensato di condividerlo “virtualmente”con voi e dedicargli un post unico e speciale. L’altra ragione – altrettanto speciale – che mi ha convinto a scrivere un articolo “un po’ diverso dal solito” è stato il desiderio di festeggiare un’occasione che credo meriti una menzione: l’arrivo del Duecentesimo Post!

Solitamente non scrivo circa beauty e make-up, ma poiché sono convinta che la bellezza sia un aspetto importante della nostra vita, proprio come un’alimentazione corretta e il benessere fisico, ho pensato questa volta di fare un’eccezione.  Consideravo inoltre che le Festività Natalizie non sono poi così lontane e, se qualcuno di voi è alla ricerca di un regalo particolare ed elegante, questa palette potrebbe essere l’idea giusta.

Ho acquistato la palette direttamente dal sito di Urban Decay e devo dire che la spedizione è stata puntuale ed accurata.  Gli ombretti sono contenuti in una elegante palette di plastica sottile e lucida, di colore oro rosato e con il nome della palette scritto nel centro. La confezione è inoltre dotata di un grande specchio e di un pennello occhi a due estremità: un lato per sfumare ed un altro per applicazioni di precisione.  All’interno troviamo 12 cialde di 1,2 gr ognuna: 11 colori opachi ed 1 solo colore satinato.

Vediamo i colori nel dettaglio:

Blow – un nude chiaro satinato con un delicato sottotono color pesca.

Nudie – un delicato rosa nudo matte

Commando – un taupe chiaro

Tempted – un marrone chiaro opaco

Instict – un rosa taupe opaco

Lethal – un marrone viola opaco

Pre-Game – un giallo chiaro opaco

Extra Bitter – un arancione “bruciato” opaco

Faith – un marrone caldo medio opaco

Lockout – un marrone neutro opaco

Magnet – un grigio fumo opaco

Blackjack – un nero opaco

Hanno una splendida pigmentazione, si sfumano molto bene ed hanno una texture burrosa e setosa. Gli ombretti sono inoltre di lunga durata e possono essere utilizzati senza rischiare che il make-up sbavi, sbiadisca o coli (io avendo la pelle piuttosto oleosa preferisco comunque applicare prima il primer). Una delle ragioni principali che mi ha convinto ad acquistare la Ultimate Basic è sicuramente la scelta dei colori: un connubio ben indovinato di sfumature dal sottotono caldo e freddo, perfetti per creare look da tutti i giorni, intensi smokey-eyes o – last but not least – eccellenti se usati come colori di transizione.

I colori sono tutti assolutamente nuovi e “mai visti prima” ma per sicurezza, se siete delle grandi appassionate di ombretti nude e possedete un buon numero di palette di questo tipo, può valere la pena fare un piccolo confronto perché alcuni colori potrebbero essere vagamente simili tra loro.  Da parte mia devo ammettere che – essendo in possesso di parecchie palette coloratissime – ciò che mi mancava era proprio una palette versatile ed elegante con colori nude opachi. Insomma, possiamo concludere dicendo che a mio parere il nome “Ultimate Basics” è decisamente meritato!

This year my Christmas Present arrived a little bit earlier, I could almost say it is an “Halloween Present”, a very special one! I usually do not write about make up, but I believe that beauty it is indeed another significant part of our life, as well as natural healthy food and well-being.  Another point to consider is that Christmas is not that far so, if you are looking for an alluring present, this could be the right answer…even if the present itself is for you! Besides, this is the two-hundredth post of the blog, so I believe it is proper to celebrate with a very special one!

I have bought the palette from the Urban Decay web site and I have to say that the box arrived in time and well packed in a nice big box. I normally prefer to buy Urban Decay make up directly to Sephora, but if I will have the chance I will buy again for sure from their web site.

The Urban Decay Ultimate Basics comes in a slim, shiny plastic rose case. It has a beautiful big mirror and a double-ended brush. In the inside you will find 12 brand-new shades: 1 with a soft shimmer and 11 completely matte. Let’s see the colour in details:

Blow – a light nude demi-matte with a delicate sheen and a peachy undertone.

Nudie – a soft pink nude matte

Commando – a light taupe-brown matte

Tempted – a pale brown matte

Instict – a medium pink taupe matte

Lethal – a reddish brown matte

Pre-Game – a pale yellow matte

Extra Bitter – a burnt orange matte

Faith a medium warm brown matte

Lockout – a rich neutral brown matte

Magnet – a smoky gray matte

Blackjack – a black matte

These shades have a good pigmentation, blends well and are soft, smooth  and not powdery. The formula is long-lasting and you can apply all colours without being afraid that they will fade or melt away (I prefer anyway to use a primer as I have oily skin). One of the main reasons that made me decide to purchase this palette is the selection of colours: the perfetc mix of cool and warm undertones, which I find very elegant and versatile. Besides, I have bought this palette because I believe the colours are perfect for a variety of styles and techniques: ideal for an everyday look, for a deep matte smokey or as transition colours.

In case you are a big fan of neutral shades and you own a wide range of shadows I may suggest to make a comparison, because it is true that the colours are all brand-new but they may look a little bit similar to other eyeshadows. I have to admit I own some colourful Urban Decay Palettes and, as I do not have many nudes palettes (I have come to appreciate it with experience and time), I am very happy to have this one: it was exactly what I needed and I literally consider it the “Ultimate Naked Basic”!
