Capita a volte di avere un’idea, di preparare tutto, realizzare il progetto, fare le foto e poi lasciare tutto semplicemente in attesa. Ma cosa realmente si aspetta? Forse si aspetta il momento giusto, l’ispirazione ideale, le parole adatte e il momento indicato… un po’ come l’invecchiamento di un buon vino. Era da un po’ di tempo che guardavo quel muro bianco, ogni volta dicendomi che aveva bisogno di un tocco di luce e colore. Qualche tempo fa quindi – una volta chiarite le idee – ho finalmente deciso di condividere il mio piano, così da cominciare a lavorarci. Abbiamo preso le misure, scelto i colori e i materiali, fatto qualche piccolo aggiustamento…e così infine l’idea prende forma e diventa vera e reale.
Per prima cosa ho imbiancato con effetto spugnato, prediligendo un delicato rosa antico perché volevamo qualcosa di leggero e caldo, che contrastasse con il chiarore del bianco. Dopodiché ho iniziato a lavorare sull’asse di legno: prima di tutto una bella mano di primer, poi un acrilico marrone rossiccio, a seguire una vernice per cracklè monocomponente e per finire un acrilico beige. Abbiamo deciso di forzare l’asciugatura con il phon perché volevamo delle crepe belle ampie e devo dire che il risultato ha pienamente soddisfatto le nostre aspettative. Il giorno successivo ho decorato l’asse dipingendo fiori e foglie con la tecnica “One Stroke”: poiché non volevamo un risultato troppo pieno e “pesante” ho pensato di dipingere una sorta di “onda” di fiori e foglie che pian piano si dissolve. Abbiamo infine aggiunto dei semplici specchi quadrati per riflettere la luce e dare un po’ di movimento.
Considerando che il Natale è ormai alle porte e che siamo tutti alla ricerca di idee per regali originali e diversi dal solito, ci auguriamo che il nostro attaccappani “style vintage” possa esservi di ispirazione per realizzare “regali di Natale fai da te”. Ci auguriamo infine che il nostro piccolo lavoro di restyling venga apprezzato… noi ne siamo rimasti davvero soddisfatti!

Our brand new “vintage style” coat rack

Sometimes you have an idea, you prepare all you need, realize the project, make the pictures and then everything lies in wait. Wait for what? Maybe it is waiting for the right moment, the proper inspiration, the appropriate words and time… there are many things to consider, we could compare it to the aging of a good wine. It was a while I was watching that white wall at the entrance of our apartment, each time saying to myself that I needed to give it a bit of color and shine. Some time ago – when I finally had all pictured in my mind – I decided to “confess the whole plan” so we could start working on it. We took the measures, select colors and materials, made some adjustment here and there… and the idea takes shape and it becomes all real and concrete.
Firstly I painted the wall, using the sponge paint technique. We selected an antique pink because we wanted something delicate and warm against the bright white. After that I start working on the wooden board, beginning with a good hand of primer, then I painted it with a reddish brown acrylic and a while later I used a single-component varnish for cracklè and lastly I painted it with a delicate warm beige. I used the hairdryer to force the drying of the last hand of beige because we wanted a very large cracklè. The following day I decorated it with some flowers and leaves with the “one stroke technique”, I have decided to paint it as a disappearing wave of flowers as we did not want it to be to full and heavy. We added some squared mirrors to reflect the light and create nice geometric shapes.
Considering that Christmas is next door and that we are all looking for new ideas for original gift, I hope that our shabby chic “vintage style” coat rack will suggest you many beautiful “do it yourself” ideas! We hope you like it…we like it, of course!
